Hi,

I tried to install keybreeze under Vista on my work computer. I can use an Administrator account on that machine to install software but usually have to work under my regular (Non-Admin) account. We are not allowed to use Admin accounts permanently for security reasons.

Installation worked (had to switch to the Admin account during installation) but when I now try to start keybreeze (and after each Vista logon) I get the following error message popup:
Run-time error '5'. Invalid procedure call or argument

Starting keybreeze manually with "Run as Administrator" works but of course everything that is started by it will run with full Admin privileges as well - which is not what I want.
Is there any way to let keybreeze run under a regular (Non-Admin) account ?

Thanks
Jens

It's a bit depressing that Andrew isn't around here much to help us with the fundamental problems we're having with Kb.   Sad  Solve a few of these and it would be an excellent program.

Almost invariably Windows requires some kind of administrator account privileges to install programs.  For security's sake it does make sense, but it makes things harder.  It means, for instance, that I have to install every new program that comes along on my wife's machine, because I've declared her unsafe to have the admin password.  Grin

So to get Kb into C:\Program Files your account has to be able to write into that folder tree.  In your circumstances that my not be possible.  You could try installing Kb into, say, C:\Users\j97\Downloads\Keybreeze - a data area - where you certainly have write rights.  And then run the program from there.  Odd, but it may work.

The big problem is that Kb may demand Admin rights just to run, and we're back to square one.  I haven't yet tried what I'm suggesting.
