The only thing that is making me consider staying with launchy is the fact that it keeps it's index current so If I install or uninstall anything, the index stays updated. As far as I can tell with Keybreeze, if you uninstall a program then you have to manually delete the command entry. Of course maybe I'm just being dense and missing something! Great program though!

I understand the benefit of keeping an updated index, but keep in mind that this would take up quite a bit of memory and processing speed.  To have the command list continually updated through an index would require a timer running in the background constantly checking the Start Menu for newly added or deleted programs.

Also, an index would include unneccessary keywords, such as uninstallers, readme files, help files, etc.  I personally like having my own custom keyword list with keywords that I actually use.

It's easy to add a keyword to a newly added Start Menu item.  Just click Start > Programs, right-click a file or folder and click Add keyword to Keybreeze.  Then you just have to come up with a name.

You can also clean up your Command List by opening it (typing list as a keyword) and click File > Verify Targets Exist.  This will let you quickly delete keywords that lead to nonexistent programs.

Hope this helps!

Would it be any less cumbersome or more practical if instead of constant indexing it just "captured" new installs? I'm not a programmer so I do not at all know what's possible or the logistics therein, but it would be a step if it would at least capture a new program when I install it so I don't have to manually add programs as I install them. I guess I'm just a lazy bastard (which is where Launchy still apeals to me somewhat) but I just can't give up Keybreeze's functionality for the few lazyness perks Launchy gives me. Smiley

Can't Keybreeze only index when Windows starts the way KBstart does?  Won't that save the memory/processing issue?

I, too, am very fond of the auto-indexing feature but I've been using KBstart which has far fewer capabilities than Keybreeze.

Ok, auto updating the index is very memory draining... But isn't it handy to just make a button in de List-screen with "UPDATE LIST".
Just when you want, when you have time?

Or is this function allready available?

That is a nice feature, but perhaps you can add a "Yes to all" button because I had to click Yes ~ 100 times to remove all the dead items in my list Smiley. [new feature idea 1]

Also strangely I had to repeat the File > Verify Targets Exist several times (about 10) before all dead links were really gone, every time it found less items to delete but still, again a bit of a hassle. I must say though Keybreeze determined quite rapidly which files didn't exist ... so if the user wanted it could even be done periodically (at each startup) [new feature idea 2]

What would also be nice is (in the case of moved shortcuts in the Start Menu for instance) to automatically determine the location of the (moved) shortcut and restore the command. [new feature idea 3]
