I am a convert from Google Desktop. However, there is one feature I miss, and that is quick access to doing a google search. With keybreeze, you have to use the s: prefix to search the web. It would be much easier to make it possible to set the default action to be a web search when there are no keyword matches.
The behavior right now is that it opens a dialog that has two buttons on it ("Search my computer..." and "Create a keyword...") and then an option that says "Customize this form"... with a drop down menu. If one of those drop down options was "Skip this prompt and search the Internet", that would be perfect. (There is already an option there that says, "skip this prompt and search my computer", so I suspect adding this option would be pretty easy.)
I think most people need to search the Internet for information at least 20 times more often as they need to search for something on their own computer. For me, the ratio is more like 500 to 1. That being said, I think having his feature available is far and away more useful than the "skip this prompt and search my computer" option.
On the Search Settings page of the Options dialog, there could then be an option that allowed for an Internet search URL to be be setup. The default could be pre-filled with something like "
http://google.com?q=<search string>". That way people could edit this value to use whatever search engine they wanted.
With this feature available, Keybreeze would be the quickest way to do searches on the internet, and still do all the other cool things it does.
I'll definitely be licensing this software once this feature is available.
Thanks for listening. :-)
