Hi, I'm a long time user (2012), but took the past 2 years off with a new computer. I have Win10 now and when I press the semi colon ";" to start KB it pops up the input command window, but instantly loses focus and doesn't accept input. It remains as the window on top, but is unresponsive to input. I have to grab the mouse, click the input command window and type the command. How can I get the KB input window to stay in focus as the active window?
TIA,
Steve
So I tried the easy answer first, changed the skin to "Simple No Icons" and that solved it. I can live with that. Thanks for the prompt response! :)
BTW, it was every time I pressed the hotkey ;
Hi Steve, I haven't seen that behavior before. Is it happening every time you press the hotkey? Or is it intermittent?
I would first recommend pressing the hotkey, and clicking the window if it doesn't have focus, and then typing exit as a keyword to manually close Keybreeze. Then reopen it from the Windows icon / Start button to see if it still happens after manually relaunching it.
If the issue is still there, I would recommend pressing the hotkey and typing options as a keyword. Try changing both the hotkey and the skin to something else. Then close and reopen Keybreeze again to see if it persists.
If the issue is still there, try closing all other applications and utilities that you might have running in the taskbar and system tray. There could be another application or process that is conflicting with the focus.
If it's still happening, I would recommend backing up your settings and then performing a clean reinstall. This should only take a few minutes. You can do this by doing the following.
1. Click Start > Run > type %appdata% and press Enter.
2. Copy the Keybreeze5 folder and paste it in the same directory to create a backup. The backup should be called "Keybreeze5 - Copy".
3. Once the backup folder is created, open Control Panel > Programs and Features > Uninstall Keybreeze 5. When it asks if you want to keep your settings, select Yes.
4. Go back to the %appdata% folder and rename the Keybreeze5 folder to Keybreeze5_backup. You should now have two backup folders in this directory.
5. Download the Keybreeze setup file from https://keybreeze.com/download and run it. Accept the default settings during the installation. Once it finishes installing, let me know if you still have the same issue. You can copy your settings back in place by pressing the hotkey and typing exit to close Keybreeze. Once it's closed, go back to the %appdata% directory. Rename the Keybreeze5 folder to Keybreeze5_default_settings. Then rename the Keybreeze5_backup folder to Keybreeze5. Once you relaunch Keybreeze, it will use the same settings that you were previously using. After all this is done, you can delete the Keybreeze5 - Copy folder and the Keybreeze5_default_settings folder.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
